木津川の流れ橋を渡ってきました！あまり有名でない観光地ですが、想像以上に迫力があり、初見ではなぜもっと注目されないのか不思議なくらいでした。
橋を渡り始めると、目の前に広がるのは意外にも広大な砂地。川はどこへ？と一瞬戸惑いましたが、最近雨が降っていなかったことを思い出しました。
少し進むとようやく川が見えてきましたが、橋のしたの川べりで若者カップルが楽しそうに過ごしていて、なんだかなあと。
橋の奥に進むにつれ、この橋があまり有名でない理由が分かりました。手すりのない橋から川までは5mほどあり、高所恐怖症でない私にも怖かったです。もし変わった人が歩いてきて、押されたらどうしようかと思うとかなり不安になります。せっかく立派な橋なのに、少し残念です。
そもそも「流れ橋」って何？ちょっと不吉じゃないの？と思ったのですが、解説の看板を見てみると洪水の時に本当に流されてしまうのだそうです。びっくりです。逆転の発想ですね。
うーんリピートはないかな。遠くから見る分にはいい感じですが。
A Visit to the Kizu River Flowing Bridge: Unexpected Discoveries and a Bit of Anxiety
I recently visited the Kizu River flowing bridge! While it’s not a very well-known tourist spot, it was far more impressive than I had imagined. I was puzzled as to why it wasn’t more popular.
As I started to cross the bridge, I was surprised by the vast expanse of sand. I wondered where the river had gone! Then I remembered that there hadn’t been much rain recently. A little further on, I finally saw the river, but there was a young couple enjoying themselves on the riverbank below, which kind of bothered me.
As I continued towards the end of the bridge, I realized why this bridge wasn’t as famous. There was no railing, and the height of the bridge was about 5 meters. Even though I’m not afraid of heights, it was still scary. I couldn’t help but worry what would happen if someone strange came along and pushed me. It’s a shame, because it’s such a magnificent bridge.
By the way, what’s a “flowing bridge”? Isn’t it a bit ominous? I thought. Apparently, it really does float away during floods. Even though it’s tied down with ropes, it still gives me an eerie feeling.
I don’t think I’ll be going back. It’s nice to look at from a distance, but that’s about it.
