子供の遊びもどんどんお金がかかるようになってきています。TVゲームや携帯などお金がかかる上に、外に出なくなり不健康だなと思っていました。そうかといって外の世界は、子供には狭く広々としたところで遊ぶには車で行かないといけません。そんな折、息子がはまったゴム飛行機を紹介します。40代くらいの人は皆、子供時代にずいぶん遊んだのではないでしょうか？子供はyoutubeで見たのか、遊びたくてしょうがないようです。

Children’s play is becoming more and more expensive. Video games and cell phones cost a lot of money, and I thought it was unhealthy for them to not go outside. However, the world outside is too small for children, and we have to drive to play in a spacious place. I’d like to introduce my son to rubber airplanes, which I’m sure everyone in their 40’s played with a lot as a child. My son has seen them on youtube and is dying to play with them.

ライトプレーンってどこで売っている？

メルカリで売っているよといってしまうとおしまいですけど。子供というのはすぐに遊びたいらしく、近くのおもちゃ売り場のある電気量販店(Joshin)とかVolksという大きな模型屋さんに問い合わせたところ販売していないとのこと。望みをかけて樟葉モールのトイザラスヘ、なんと見つけました。ツバメ社のライトプレーンです。小と大で300円と500円くらいでした。ちなみにネットでも買えますが送料が800円くらいします。トイザラスいいですね。

I contacted a nearby electronics store (Joshin) that has a toy section, and a big model store called Volks, but they said they have not sold them any more. Giving up hope, I went to Toys “R” Us in Kuzuha Mall, and to my surprise, I found one. They are light planes made by Tsubame. The price was about 300 yen and 500 yen for a small and a large. By the way, you can also buy them on the Internet, but it costs about 800 yen for shipping. I like Toys “R” Us.

本当に飛ぶの？

子供のころこういったゴム動力飛行機を買って、綺麗に飛んだ記憶が無く、あまり期待していなかったのだけど、飛ばしてみたら思いの外綺麗に飛びました。なんと地面に置くと離陸します。ちょっと感動してしまいました。子供もとても楽しそうでした。高いおもちゃよりも簡単な機構で動くものも魅力あるなあと思いました。やっぱり空を飛ぶのはいつの時代も子供の夢ですね。

I bought a rubber-powered airplane like this when I was a kid, and I don’t remember it flying beautifully, so I wasn’t expecting much, but when I tried flying it, it flew surprisingly beautifully. I was a little impressed. My son seemed to enjoy it very much. I thought that something that works with a simple mechanism is more attractive than an expensive toy. Flying is always a child’s dream, isn’t it?

今度は手でもって投げてみました。こちらも綺麗に飛びました。小学２年生のうちの子がすぐ作れたので簡単に作れます。一点ポイントは、ゴムが一本なので、その両端を結んでひっかけます。その時、端と端を結ぶと、結構長さが余ってしまうので、そこの調整ぐらいでしょうか。

This time he tried throwing it by hand. It flew beautifully too. My second grader was able to make it quickly and easily. One point to note is that there is only one rubber. If you tie both ends of it together, then the length of the rubber is too long.

帰り道にト音記号になっているゴムが落ちているのを発見、なんかいいことあるかも。

On the way home, I found a rubber band with a G clef on the road, which might be good for something.
